On October 20th, 2018 the graduation ceremony took place at the University of Erfurt. His dissertation, which was submitted in 2016, defended in 2017 and published as a book in 2018, examines strategies of online communication using the example of the Egyptian Revolution (book at SpringerVS | Amazon | Google Books). On the basis of the cultivation approach, corresponding strategies were uncovered in terms of content analysis and their sustainable effects on the recipients were examined using a specially developed methodology. The work was carried out with research stays in Cairo (Egypt) and Washington, D.C. (USA). Sebastian Gerth was honoured with a speech on his academic activities by Prof. Dr. G. Schauer in front of about 500 guests.
